John Barrett is Senior Executive Vice President, Global ISO Sales at Payroc, where he brings more than two decades of leadership in payments, channel strategy, and partner enablement. Throughout his career, John has led both direct and indirect sales organizations, driving merchant services growth across global markets and building a reputation for turning strategic relationships into meaningful results. His journey from managing agent programs to leading Payroc’s ISO/Agent sales efforts reflects both his deep industry expertise and Payroc’s ongoing commitment to empowering agents to thrive in a highly competitive environment.
John joined Payroc in 2019 through its merger with NXGEN, where he previously served as President. Under his leadership, NXGEN achieved double-digit growth and launched industry-leading solutions that elevated agent engagement and sales performance. Today at Payroc, he focuses on recruiting, developing, and empowering sales offices, pairing a people-first leadership style with a strong track record of building high-impact partnerships. Prior to NXGEN, John spent 10 years at First Data as Senior Vice President of Sales, leading the company’s third-party distribution channel of more than 600 independent sales organizations and 200+ independent sales agents, generating over $550 million in annual revenue. Earlier in his career, he held leadership roles as Regional Vice President of Sales for MCI (now part of Verizon) and District Systems Sales Manager for Xerox.
John is deeply engaged in advancing the payments industry as a whole. He served on the Electronic Transactions Association (ETA) Board of Directors for six years and has contributed to the Association’s Strategic Leadership Forum Planning and Awards & Recognition committees. He also served on Elavon’s Merchant Services Provider advisory committee. A sought-after industry voice, John frequently speaks and participates as a panelist at leading conferences, including ETA TRANSACT, the Northeast Acquirers Association, Southeast Acquirers Association, Midwest Acquirers Association, and Western States Acquirers Association.
John holds a Bachelor of Science in Marketing and Marketing Management and a Master of Business Administration in Marketing and Finance, both from the University of Southern California.
